Do I Need an Attorney?

The most common question people have after an accident is, "do I need an attorney?" In the United States of America, in most cases, people are allowed to represent themselves. The question is not whether you'd have to have an attorney. The question is whether you should hire an attorney. The answer to that question is yes.

It will be difficult to explain all of the ways in which an attorney can help an accident victim. Rest assured that the insurance company has highly trained professionals who handle hundreds and thousands of cases a year and do whatever she did extensive training and paying you as little as possible. In addition, insurance companies have hired multimillion dollar specialists who have developed computer-based software to analyze every detail of your claim in your claims value

A few years ago, attorney Craig Perry prepared a series of brochures on "How Attorneys Help Accident Victims." They can be found on his website as special reports. These brochures contain just for reasons why attorneys can help accident victims. Additional reasons include the following:

  • Reviewing the insurance policy of the client to ensure that the proper coverages are provided. Many types of coverage issues arise during the evaluation of the claim.
  • Finding adequate third-party sources of money to fully compensate the accident victim
  • Obtaining maximum value for your settlement claim
  • Obtaining all of the money you deserve for your property damage
  • Receiving compensation for out-of-pocket expenses that must be carefully documented and presented
  • Receiving medical care from competent medical professionals who are trained to treat accident injuries and prepare reports which carefully document those injuries to the satisfaction of the insurance company.
  • Preparing plans for recorded statements with their own or the adverse insurance company
  • Seeking alternative dispute resolution methods or litigation when necessary
  • Knowing and making the necessary legal arguments to trigger coverage, the policy limits of the adverse party, exceeding policy limits in some cases, and applying the law to the facts of the case as it relates to liability, coverage, and settlement issues

Not all insurance questions and problems arise in every case. However, each case has its own unique set of facts and circumstances. We take hours of discussion years of training to fully explain all of the possible combinations of facts, law and policy coverage issues that may arise in a single case. Suffice it to say that each case is unique in their fur acquires a great deal of experience and insight in approaching the proper handling of the case. in most cases an accident victim would have to spend many hours to do an adequate job handling their own claim, during the time when they should be focusing on recovery.
