What's in an Insurance Policy?

Many people have never read or seen their insurance policies. Those who do read it do not understand the fine print. They rely heavily on their insurance agents to sell them a policy that is right for them. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.

Insurance policies determine whether you get paid or underpaid, whether there is coverage or no coverage. If you or the negligent party did not carry enough insurance, that could be very bad news.

Your statement of coverage is not your insurance policy. What you routinely receive in the mail is known as the "dec" or declarations page. It shows how much coverage you have, not a good explanation of coverages and exclusions.

There are several elements to an insurance policy that need to be understood. More importantly, you need a clear understanding of what kind of coverage the person who hit you has.

We can tell you precisely what kind of coverage you had at the time of the accident, and more importantly, the insurance coverage of the party who caused your injuries.
